Blast in Bangkok kills protestor
Moscow News.Net Thursday 20th November, 2008
An anti-government protester has been killed in a Bangkok bomb explosion.
Over 20 other people were wounded in the pre-dawn blast, which rocked an area around the Government House compound, where demonstrators had been camping.
A grenade exploded near the main stage of the protest site while it was still dark.
Protesters from the People's Alliance for Democracy group have been occupying the area since late August, to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat's government.
The PAD has accuses Mr Somchai and his recently-ousted predecessor, Samak Sundaravej, of simply being proxies for ex-prime minister Thaksin.
Thaksin, Mr Somchai's brother-in-law, was forced from office in a military coup in 2006 and remains in exile overseas.
