BELGRADE, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Russian champions CSKA Moscow succumbed to hosts Red Star 86-84 after overtime here in the basketball Euroleague on Thursday.
In a match without an audience at the Aleksandar Nikolic hall, Red Star managed to keep up with CSKA until the second quarter when the Russians managed to build-up an eight-point lead until halftime thanks to the points of Will Clyburn.
In the third quarter, the guest team expanded the gap further with a 6-0 series to 35-49, but Red Star managed to narrow the distance thanks to Jordan Loyd and Torrian Walden.
After the exciting fourth quarter ended with a 73-73 draw, the match was dragged into overtime where Loyd put his team in front with a three-pointer at 80-75, and the host eventually pulled off the win.
Best in ranks of Red Star was Loyd with 31 points, while Daniel Hacket scored 29 for CSKA.
This is the second triumph for Red Star in the competition this season, while CSKA marked their third defeat.
