BISHKEK, May 10 (Xinhua) -- President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin at the initiative of the Russian side, the press service of the Kyrgyz president reported on Monday.
The report said that the heads of state congratulated each other on the 76th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The Russian president also congratulated the people of Kyrgyzstan on the entry into force of a new constitution.
During the conversation, the two sides also discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as the situation related to the recent conflict at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border.
Putin said that Russia was ready to provide Kyrgyzstan with necessary assistance to overcome the humanitarian consequences of the border conflict, the report said.
Following the talks, the two sides agreed to hold a working visit of Zhaparov to Moscow at the end of May, during which the most pressing issues of bilateral cooperation and Eurasian economic integration will be discussed.
The two sides will pay special attention to regional security, including within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The two leaders will also discuss measures to counter the COVID-19 pandemic, including the supply of Russian vaccines to Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Kyrgyz president said.
