Iran retaliates after new Israeli launches: LIVE UPDATES

Israel earlier targeted Iranian oil and gas facilities

Israel dramatically escalated its attacks on Iran on Saturday, striking key oil and gas facilities including the massive South Pars gas field - the world's largest. The energy sector strikes came after a night of intense reciprocal attacks between the two nations.

The IDF hit multiple targets across Iran on Friday, including uranium enrichment sites, while also killing several senior military commanders and scientists in targeted assassinations. Iran retaliated by firing dozens of ballistic missiles into Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has "vowed to strike every target" necessary to eliminate the "threat" from Iran.

Following the escalation, Oman has announced the cancellation of planned US-Iran nuclear talks.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump have discussed the crisis in a 50-minute phone call, during which they reportedly agreed on the possibility of restarting negotiations over Iran's nuclear program, according to Putin's foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov.
