PanARMENIAN.Net - The United States is seeking to have a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine signed by July 4, U.S. Independence Day, Bloomberg reported, citing European and NATO officials.
According to the agency's sources, there are currently no signs that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to agree to a deal, Meduza writes.
The White House did not respond to Bloomberg's request for comment.
In an interview with CNN, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Donald Trump wants Kyiv to simultaneously sign a peace agreement with Russia and agreements with the United States and European countries that would provide Ukraine with security guarantees, preferably during a major ceremony.
On July 4, 2026, the United States will mark the 250th anniversary of its independence.
On February 7, Zelensky said that the United States had proposed to Ukraine and Russia to end the war by early summer.
"Why by this summer? You understand, their internal issues in America will become more pressing for them ahead of the midterm elections in Congress," he said.
