PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking at a meeting of the General Council Committee on International Cooperation of the United Russia party, said that EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas made a candid confession by pledging the European Union's support to Armenia in the 2026 parliamentary elections to counter "harmful foreign interference, as was done in Moldova."

"Kaja Kallas publicly promised that the EU would 'help Armenia fight harmful foreign interference, just as it did in Moldova.' This is a frank confession," Lavrov said, according to Sputnik Armenia.

Lavrov further criticized the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, saying it has long become a tool of political pressure, and that the reports prepared by election observation missions are driven by geopolitical considerations.

"If a non-Western-aligned candidate wins, the harshest assessments follow, even calling for re-elections. But if someone strongly supported by the West wins, it is hailed as a 'victory of democracy.' These conclusions are prepared in advance. Everyone knows this. And yet the EU calls this the 'gold standard of election monitoring,'" he stated.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas previously announced that the EU will provide Armenia with 15 million for several programs, including demining operations and hybrid warfare support.
